CAD Designer

CAD Technician – Rhino 3D (Production / CNC / Composites)

We are looking for a detail‑oriented, organized, and process‑driven Remote CAD Technician with strong experience in Rhinoceros 3D to support production work for fiberglass and composite parts, primarily for the marine / boat‑building industry.

This role is focused on hands‑on execution and manufacturing preparation, converting 3D geometry into accurate 2D flat patterns, CNC cut files, and layout documentation.

It is not a conceptual design, engineering, or leadership role. Accuracy, consistency, and organization are far more important than creativity.

Responsibilities

• Work in Rhino 3D to manipulate and organize 3D models.
• Flatten / unroll 3D surfaces into precise 2D patterns (Unroll, Smash, Rebuild workflows).
• Clean, join, and prepare geometry for production use.
• Organize 2D parts for manufacturing and kit layouts.
• Apply offsets, overlaps, and splits based on established standards.
• Label and organize parts using layers, numbering, and naming conventions.
• Prepare CNC cut files, properly nested for roll or sheet materials.
• Generate layout / schematic PDFs showing part placement and assembly steps.
• Organize files and documentation according to defined production workflows.
• Execute tasks independently based on provided instructions and standards.

Requirements, Skills, and Qualifications

• Strong proficiency in Rhinoceros 3D (required).
• Solid understanding of:
• 3D geometry and surface manipulation
• Converting 3D surfaces into 2D flat patterns
• 2D drafting and layout organization
• High attention to detail and accuracy.
• Organized, reliable, and process‑driven mindset.
• Ability to work independently in a remote environment.
• Comfort working in a repetitive, execution‑focused technical role.
• English level: Functional to Professional (spoken and written).

Nice to have:

• Experience with fiberglass, composites, or boat building.
• CNC machining or cut‑file preparation experience.
• Part nesting for material optimization.
• Familiarity with roll goods and sheet goods layouts.
• Layer‑based CAD organization.
